This cold frame from Christow offers a practical way to extend your growing season and protect vegetables, seedlings and bedding plants from the worst of the British weather. Built from sustainably sourced FSC timber treated with a water-based ACQ preservative, it resists rot, decay and insects without the use of harmful chemicals. At 100cm x 65cm x 40cm, it sits neatly over a raised bed or patch of ground and is light enough to move around the garden as your needs change through the seasons.

Rather than relying on a single glazed panel, polycarbonate windows run across every side of the frame, meaning your plants receive good light regardless of which direction the cold frame is facing. The sloped roof encourages rainwater and snow to run off freely, while the double-hinged lid with steel sliding lifts lets you open it to exactly the right position for ventilation or to tend your crops without fully removing the cover. The polycarbonate itself is UV-stabilised, so it won't yellow or become brittle over time and it filters harmful UV rays before they reach your plants.

Assembly is straightforward from flat-pack, with all fixtures and fittings galvanised against rust. Base plates are supplied at the bottom of the frame, and pre-drilled holes allow you to peg it securely into the ground during stormy weather, giving you confidence that it will stay put when conditions turn rough. Whether you're hardening off seedlings in spring, growing salad leaves through autumn, or overwintering tender plants, this cold frame is a versatile and durable addition to any garden.
